Trilogy Bicycle Club Policies

The Trilogy Bicycle Club has adopted the following policies to promote safe cycling, courtesy, and good sportsmanship. We ask that all riders abide by these policies and practices to make the ride safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Safety

  • Have a bicycle in good working condition including functioning brakes.
  • Wear a helmet whenever riding.
  • Use approved hand signals for turns, slowing and stopping.
  • Ride predictably.
  • Call out road hazards and other dangers to other cyclists in the group.
  • Call out when passing and ONLY pass another cyclist on the left side.
  • Overlapping or crossing wheels with another cyclist in a pace line can be dangerous and cause accidents. Try to stay in line communicate clearly when you overlap so they know you are there.
  • LEFT TURNS: All together if no traffic. With traffic, stop and cross when clear. AZ state law says don’t get in turn lane sooner than 200 ft. Every rider is responsible to check if it is safe to turn. DO NOT just follow the cyclist in front of you.
  • STOP SIGNALS: Full stop crossing an intersection, or at left turns. Foot down, stop before proceeding with right turns.
  • STOP SIGNS: Full stop when cars are present. Encouraged to slow and put a foot down if no cars present.
  • FOUR WAY STOP: If a car is waiting, group takes their turn. If a large group, and strung out a bit, split group up and allow waiting car to proceed.
  • SIGNAL/CALL OUT: Slowing, stopping, turning, hazards, passing.
  • PASSING: Call out when passing on left.  Do not pass on right
  • FLATS: Stop at safe location. Some or everyone wait during repair.

  • Please heed ride leader’s instructions.
  • Let someone know if you decide to leave the ride. If you leave a ride you are no longer considered part of the event and are not covered by our insurance.
  • When the club lists a ride as “no drop” it means, no riders will be left behind to finish a ride on their own.
